HERVÉ DELAMARE         Sculpture, arts visuels

Respectus

Respectus is the current creative cycle of Hervé Delamare. Since 2019 he has been questioning the links between human figure and natural elements.

His achievements strive to pay tribute to indigenous peoples. Hervé favors outdoor exhibitions, striving to use simple, sustainable and bio-sourced materials.

The artist explores new perennial sculpture techniques, such as the association of clay with recycled paper, all saturated with linseed oil (video at the bottom of the page).

Flax and hemp fiber also occupy an important place. The Respectus cycle is not unrelated to the aesthetics and the spiritual dimension of the Végétanimal cycle.

It has a kind of extension, this time offering us a poetic symbiosis between the plant and the human.

The sculpture and its title are inspired by a multi-millennial philosophy of life, common to the different Native American cultures and nations. A philosophy summed up in the expression: pin peyeh obe (think the mountain). Native American anthropologist Gregory Cajete of the Tewa Nation defines it as follows: "The elders remind us of the importance of seeing far when they say pin peyeh obe 'think of the mountains'. They use this phrase to remind us to look at things as if we were standing on top of a mountain, see them in the much larger context of generations to come. They remind us that, in our relationship with the landscape, we have to think in terms of relationships over ten thousand, twenty thousand or thirty thousand years. »
